During their media summit yesterday in San Francisco, Nintendo announced that Metroid: Other M will be released this summer. June 27th to be exact. The game is a collaboration between Nintendo and Team Ninja, the developer behind Ninja Gaiden. With these two developers on board it's your guess as to whether the game will be "spastically easy" or "kick you in the nuts impossibly hard."The game features both 2-D and 3-D elements. It's known that for a large portion of the game you will play holding the Wii-mote sideways (like an NES controller) for the two dimensional gameplay. However, aiming the Wii-mote at the screen will flip you into a 3D mode, allowing for precise targeting and exploration.
According to the press release, "Players use the Wii Remote controller held sideways to battle enemies and navigate the expansive, gorgeous environments in classic Metroid fashion, then aim at the screen with the Wii Remote pointer to blast foes in first-person and hunt the world for clues and hidden passages."
More on this to come, in the mean time check out some pics.
